Production-Event Overview

“Becoming More,” is a production intended to address today’s reality, where societal conversations about identity, rights, and equity are more urgent than ever. It’s particularly timely considering the threat of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation that is stoking depression and fear among LGBTQ+ youth, families, and individuals.

“Becoming More” is a collaborative work that spans across storytelling, music, song, and dance—an ambitious production that aims to tell the story of a Two Spirit transgender person’s journey of perseverance, hope, and triumph.

The experience centers around the sharing of Stephen Emberley’s story and is intended to be a light, encouraging other transgender individuals in navigating their own path and quite literally finding courage and the will to live in the darkest of hours. It’s a message of acknowledgement and hope for anyone who has ever felt othered or not enough.

“Becoming More” is also meant to inform, educate, and amplify the urgency with which allies and advocates must act to halt the current insanity in our world around how transgender humans are regarded, acknowledged, and reated. At its most basic, it’s a cry for all of humanity to see and understand one another.
